How Much Does an Exterior Home Redesign Cost?

Understand the difference between an exterior design fee and the cost of buying materials and renovating your house.

Two budgets, two different purposes

An exterior redesign has two separate costs: planning how the home will look, and carrying out the work. A design fee pays for the proposed appearance and the guidance behind it. A renovation budget pays for products, labor and the site work needed to install them. Confusing the two can make an otherwise clear quote feel misleading.

For Online Exterior Designer, the Design Transformation costs $795 USD for one house side or primary exterior view. The second side costs $600 USD; the third and fourth cost $500 USD each. These are design fees; paint, doors, siding, installation and other renovation expenses are purchased separately.

What the design fee includes

The package includes one exterior visualization for each selected house side, a design specification / shopping list, and one consolidated revision round. You work directly with Mary Jo. The typical design turnaround is 5 to 10 business days after payment, suitable photographs and all required project information have been received.

The specification identifies selected finishes and relevant product recommendations. For items such as lighting, it can show the finish, suggested quantity and a purchase link where available. Large material quantities and final dimensions still need to be checked at the property.

How the number of house sides affects the price

One side is $795 USD. Two sides are $1,395 USD, three are $1,895 USD and four are $2,395 USD. Choose the views you actually intend to renovate. A front-only refresh can begin with one view; a wraparound material change usually benefits from showing adjoining elevations.

A second view helps reveal how a stone accent ends at a corner or how a new siding finish meets the rear of the home. It should be chosen for a practical reason rather than because every project needs every side.

What makes the renovation itself more expensive

Paint and lighting can often be planned around existing surfaces and wiring. Replacing siding, windows, doors or roofing involves a different level of work. Access, removal, preparation, disposal, hidden repairs and local labor rates all influence contractor estimates.

A photograph cannot reveal every moisture issue or condition behind the siding. Ask contractors to identify what their quote includes and how discoveries during the work will be handled. Avoid comparing a paint-only estimate with a replacement-cladding estimate as though they describe the same project.

Set priorities before choosing products

Divide your wish list into necessary repairs, high-impact appearance changes and optional additions. A sound roof with an inconvenient color may be worth designing around. A small, poorly defined entrance may benefit more from a stronger door surround and appropriately sized lights than from adding another decorative material.

Tell your designer which elements must stay and which are realistic candidates for replacement. This makes it possible to develop a plan that suits the intended investment without pretending to provide a contractor’s final price.

Compare estimates for the same scope

Use the finished concept and specification to request comparable local quotes. Ask each contractor to price the same materials, preparation, installation areas and finish assumptions. Check lead times, delivery, taxes, permits and any professional services that may be needed.

Keep a separate allowance for unforeseen work, agreed with the people assessing your property. The useful question is not simply “What does an exterior makeover cost?” It is “What will this particular set of changes cost on my house?” A clear design gives that conversation a better starting point.
