What Does an Online Exterior Designer Actually Do?
From your existing house photos to an exterior concept and shopping list: what the service includes, and how to use the result.

It begins with the house you already have
An online exterior designer helps you decide how your property could look before you start buying products or renovating. The starting point is usually a clear photograph, rather than a blank sheet of paper. Your roofline, entrance, windows, garage and surrounding materials provide the context for the proposal.
At Online Exterior Designer, I personally review the property and develop every client design. The aim is to make the improvements feel appropriate for the house, whether that means a restrained refresh or a more noticeable transformation.
The work goes beyond a new paint color
A exterior can feel unfinished even when each individual product is attractive. The garage might dominate the entrance, the porch lights might disappear against a tall wall, or three different material tones might compete. Exterior design considers how those parts relate to each other.
Depending on your goals, the concept may address siding, masonry, trim, door finishes, windows, roof recommendations, lighting, entry details and planting direction. Some changes can keep the structure intact; others need local technical review before they can be built.
What you send
Provide at least one clear, straight-on image of each house side you want redesigned. Additional angles help explain corners, porches and material transitions. Include inspiration, the elements you want to preserve and any limits on what you can change.
A short brief is more helpful than a long collection of unrelated inspiration photos. For example: keep the roof and windows, soften the red brick, make the entrance more visible and avoid a stark black-and-white finish. Mention your budget direction so the proposed changes reflect practical priorities.

What you receive
You receive an exterior visualization for each selected side and a specification / shopping list. The image helps you judge the overall appearance; the list explains the selected finishes and relevant items, with sourcing links where available.
For a pair of entrance lights, the list may identify two pieces, the selected finish and a product link. For siding or paving, it provides the material direction while your installer confirms dimensions and order quantities. Products and renovation work are separate from the design fee.
How the revision works
One consolidated revision round is included. Review the initial concept as a whole and send your comments together: perhaps a softer body color, a different door finish or an adjustment to the lighting within the agreed scope.
A completely new style or a substantial scope change may involve an additional fee, agreed before extra work begins. Keeping the feedback in one clear message makes the review easier to follow and helps preserve the intended relationships between the elements.
What happens before construction
Use the concept to discuss pricing, sourcing and feasibility with local professionals. An exterior visualization is a design concept, not a construction drawing or a substitute for a site inspection. Contractors need to confirm installation, measurements and product suitability.
The service is particularly useful when you know the exterior needs improvement but cannot yet picture a clear solution. You can assess the proposed result before committing to the physical work, then move forward with a more useful brief.
